Water Skills Academy Closure Announement

Drone view of paddleboarders exploring the ocean

We are saddened to hear the news that the Water Skills Academy has now ceased trading. We know many of their team who are well respected paddlers in the UK SUP scene, and our best wishes go out to them all whilst they navigate this difficult time.

In order to offer help for those affected, our BSUPA Directors and Training team have spoken at length with the WSA management team to establish a pathway of support for WSA members affected by the closure of the business.

For recreational members of WSA we can offer a free transfer of membership for the remainder of their current membership cycle. To access this support please contact BSUPA and provide a screenshot of your current WSA membership with renewal date. BSUPA membership includes Worldwide third-party public liability and member to member insurance cover (excluding the US and Canada) up to £5 million.

For Professional members of WSA who are working as SUP Instructors we can offer a 1-day conversion course where we’ll introduce you to the BSUPA teaching syllabus and asses your on-water skills. These 1-day conversion courses will take place across the UK at our BSUPA Training Centres and will be free of charge for any currently qualified WSA Instructors. To book your conversion course you will be required to join as a BSUPA member and please must provide proof of your existing WSA qualifications. Upon completion of a conversion course Instructors will be eligible to work within the BSUPA Schools network and follow the established School safety management system.

Best wishes,

Andrew Tee

BSUPA Chairman
