On the 26th of July 2020, Jordan Wylie (36) embarked on a SUP world record attempt to stand up paddle board around Great Britain – The Great British Paddle. Leaving form Blackpool Lancashire, a successful return home after circumnavigating the coast will require over 2,000 miles of paddling.
This is not the first attempt to paddle board around Great Britain, but we are hoping the first successful attempt. Due to the extreme physical and psychological challenges along with the relentless and challenging British weather other attempts have failed.
Jordan is no stranger to danger and served in the British Army for 10 years. Afterwards and with adventure still calling he ran through the 3 most dangerous countries in the world in 2018 which became the subject of his latest book: Running For My Life. Closely followed by his next adventure of rowing across the perilous Bab El Mandeb Straits, at the mouth of the pirate infested Gulf of Aden – the most dangerous stretch of water on the planet!
Now for most mortals this set of adventures combined could be seen as a lifetime’s achievement but not only is he now attempting the stand up paddle world record attempt but on completion he has a further mission lined up – a polar running challenge in December in Antarctica, no less.
Great British Paddle Fundraiser
Jordan is hoping and surely succeeding in his mission to inspire young people from around the world using the spirit of adventure in his current endeavour: The Great British Paddle. With the money raised from this he hopes to contribute towards the £100,000 pounds already raised by him to finish the school on the Horn of Africa for refugees that have been displaced by conflicts in Yemen and Somalia. The Great British Paddle will be supported by a world class team.
- World record breaking sailor Alex Alley who will skipper the support boat and act as overall project manager.
- Adventure psychologist and polar explorer Paula Reid
- James May – former military adventurer turned film maker will document the attempt to provide footage to share for the world to see
- Andover based business aye Prints and Bear Behind who will be managing media enquiries
The expedition is being sponsored by Andover based business Angel Call Handling, a business support service with a reputation of excellence. In Jordan’s words:
to work with Angela and Sarah is a real honour, these lovely ladies and their business have so much passion, positive energy and drive and these are all traits I will need to be successful in The Great British Paddle.

In addition, Jordan’s full time sponsors include Eton Haris and Chartercross Capital Management.
I am super grateful to the team at Eton Harris and Chartercross. They have been like a family to me and the fact I get to work with them every day is a real privilege. They are the reason I am able to visit so many schools, cadet units and youth organisations and share my experiences to help others. I will fly their flag proudly as always.

The Great British Paddle is a truly epic adventure with a wide collaboration of sponsors and organisations assisting the effort, surely a testament to Jordan’s ability to co-ordinate his adventures and work as part of a team. Keep on top of progress and offer Jordan your support on ‘The Great British Paddle’ website.
BSUPA wishes Jordan the best of luck and is very excited to see the adventure unfold.
