Kite & SUP Youth Tour Launched Yesterday!

The Armada Trust, the BKSA and BSUPA are delighted to launch the first ever Kite & SUP Youth Tour. The Tour will run throughout April and May, visiting eight tour stops around the country and aiming to engage over 1,000 young people who have never tried power kiting or SUP boarding before.

Team GB in Fiji

After two weeks of sun, sea and island hopping Team GB return home with a solid 12th place, equalling previous year’s final position. Improving upon previous results let alone breaking into the world’s top ten seemed a challenging task to say the least; without previous team captain and talisman Ollie Shilston combined with the complete withdrawal of the prone team 12th was a fair effort. With a team of fresh faces, although some less fresh than others (the team had one of the highest average ages in the competition), ambitions were nonetheless high with seasoned campaigner Marie Buchanan remaining as the single constant among them and the greatest hope of breaking into the top ten.

2016 BSUPA National SUP Surf Championships, Watergate Bay

Competitors from across the country and in one case as far as Durban, South Africa, congregated at Watergate Bay in to compete in the BSUPA National Sup Surf Championship. Now in its eighth year these championships has seen an every growing field of entries across the third divisions. Saturday saw strong on shore winds and choppy waves causing challenging conditions for all competitors across the open rounds. With a much-favored forecast looking set to come in overnight the contest was put on hold till Sunday. Sunday morning with sunny warm and clear skies, light off shore winds and a near perfect wave, all was set for the classic day off sup surfing.
