NOTICE OF AGM 19th Feb 2011

Dear Members,

UPDATED WITH VENUE INFORMATION

Over the past three years BSUPA has grown from an idea on a beach to a national organisation with a coaching scheme, agreements for waterways access and three years of running national championships. We have run training weekends, race events and coaching seminars. We negotiated a comprehensive insurance policy for BSUPA members, and have worked with the ROSPA and the RNLI on beach safety.

We launched the BSUPA coaching in March 2010 and now have over 50 BSUPA instructors around the UK and Ireland and have created a voluntary BSUPA SUP school scheme.

BSUPA is very passionate about stand up paddle surfing, in 2010 directors Jock ,Matt, Simon and SUPer Elliot Dudley crossed the English Channel by SUP to raise over £8,000 for surfers against sewage (SAS), all of the committee actively SUP in flat water and surf. Richard ran both the Poole Windfest event and the highly successful end of season event at Watergate Bay.

As committee members and directors none of us have been paid for the time we have worked for BSUPA.

As founder members Matt Argyle and Simon Bassett feel that the time has come to step back and let others take BSUPA forward. To that end both Matt and Simon are not intending to stand for re-election.

We are very keen to see BSUPA succeed, Simon will remain as a BSUPA trainer and will continue to run instructor training courses, Matt will also be a trainer and, if required by the new committee, will give his time to help the transition. Andy Gratwick and Jock Patterson will continue to run instructor training courses.

NOTICE OF AGM

The BUSPA AGM will be held on 19th Feb 2011 at 10.30am at Bishop Luffa School, Bishop Luffa Close, Chichester, West Sussex PO19 3LT, link to map. Please note only BSUPA members are eligible to attend.

The first item on the agenda will be the re-election of Claire Blacklock and Richard Marsh as committee members (Jock Patterson does not need re-electing as the term is 2 years and he was elected in 2010).

Founder members of BSUPA Simon Bassett and Matt Argyle are not standing for re-election in 2011 .
