More dates for Instructors Course
BSUPA are launching Europes’s first SUP instructor qualification scheme. The BSUPA Level 1 “Ready to Ride” © scheme is designed to teach stand up paddling on flat-water to beginners. Since we first planned this course we have added more course content with feed back from potential instructors and the course will now cover an intro to stand up paddle surfing, short distance route planning, safety, and a basic how to catch a wave on a SUP. Throughout the course we will be concentrating on paddle technique and teaching skills.
This will be the starting point of the BSUPA coaching flat-water and surf scheme. BSUPA’s mission is to ensure good safety practice, core coaching skills and to deliver students who really want to take up the sport of SUP.
The first course on March 22nd/23rd is now full, the next course is on 26 & 27 April 2010 at X-train West Wittering run by BSUPA head coach Simon Bassett and Andy Gratwick BKSA head coach and BSUPA Trainer. The course will be intensive so expect some homework overnight. We look forward to seeing you on the beach.
Before the course starts you will be sent some of the lecture topics that you will need to swat up on. The certificate based instructor course will cover the skills required to teach core SUP skills and paddle technique, group control, safety, risk assessment, session plans.
We will also introduce the scheme, which will include BSUPA approved schools, hire centres, SUP safety etiquette and the rest of the BSUPA coaching program. We are also going to introduce some new trainers who will assisting us with the roll out of the new BSUAP SUP scheme around the UK.
We will be rolling intermediate and advanced instructor levels later once we’ve had chance to let the first level set in and recieve feedback from instructors.
