Paddle Round The Pier Race - Sunday 4th July 2010 Results First of all I apologise for the time it has taken to get these results up. The race raised a variety of questions that we needed to consider which I will go into later in this update.

The race was held in pretty strong SSW conditions and we raced from Hove Lagoon to the Paddle Round the Pier site by West Pier.

BSUPA Roadford Lake, Devon Event Results 2010 The second race event in the 2010 series was held at Roadford Lake, Devon on 29th May 2010. The race was a 5km course with both and upwind and downwind section.

BSUPA West Wittering Event Results 2010 The first race event in the 2010 series was held at West Wittering beach on 15th May 2010. The race was a 12km down winder and down tide course into Chichester Harbour from West Wittering to Dell Quay.

BSUPA Event 4 2009 Results - Watergate Bay The fourth and final round of the BSUPA National Series took place in Watergate Bay on 17th and 18th October. The week running up to the event had seen a fantastic low over the Atlantic creating some great surf on the North Cornwall Coast so expectations were high for the conditions the weekend would bring.

More dates for Instructors Course

BSUPA are launching Europes’s first SUP instructor qualification scheme. The BSUPA Level 1 “Ready to Ride” © scheme is designed to teach stand up paddling on flat-water to beginners. Since we first planned this course we have added more course content with feed back from potential instructors and the course will now cover an intro to stand up paddle surfing, short distance route planning, safety, and a basic how to catch a wave on a SUP. Throughout the course we will be concentrating on paddle technique and teaching skills.

Jock Patterson BSUPA surf and distance champion 2009 will be holding a free coaching session for BSUPA members and non members over at West Wittering beach.

BSUPA and SAS work together to raise money

saschallenge150 Three of Britain’s best stand up paddle boarders met at West Wittering windsurf club at this Friday, 29th January to launch the Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) 2010 Challenge, a Guinness World Record™ breaking attempt to cross the English Channel in June this year that also aims to raise at least £10,000 for SAS’s campaigns and celebrate the organisation’s 20th anniversary.

BSUPA AGM 2010

The BSUPA AGM will be held at West Wittering Memorial Hall on 30th January 2010 at 2pm. We will be surfing in the morning and meeting in the Inn at Home for lunch at 12.20pm, do come and join. Please be aware you need to be a paid up BSUPA member to attend.

With a little over 48hrs till the start of the Extreme Academy 2009 BSUPA Series Finals at Watergate Bay, the buzz on the net is growing by the hour, and media coverage being generated from all corners of the world.

I am also pleased to announce that sports photographer Jon Parker has confirmed his attendance at the competition to photograph the action and capture the positive energy surrounding this event. If the conditions are as great at the weekend as they were yesterday at Watergate Bay, Jon will have a busy couple of days.
