Hello BSUPA members and non members.

I have all the information now about the Environment Agency and British Waterways license after tonight's meeting.  Although we have not signed on the dotted line yet as paper work on the agreements has not come through, I do have costing information and I would like to ask both members and non members on feedback on how this will work.  The licenses will give BSUPA members access to inland waterways that are looked after by British Waterways and the Environment Agency.

BSUPA Newsletter - March 2010

Welcome the the BSUPA newsletter.  We have lots of things to update you on so please excuse the length of this letter, but it is all good stuff !

BSUPA Insurance

BSUPA is pleased to announce that we have finally, after three months of hard negotiations, our own insurance policy.  This means to members and to others within the industry that BSUPA is now separated from the British Surf Association club scheme, and BSUPA is a stand alone organisation, representing stand up paddle surfing/ SUP riding for flatwater, inland and surf in the UK.

We are very grateful for the start that we had with the BSA scheme and we shall maintain close links with them.

Committee help needed at BSUPA

Dear SUPers and BSUPA members,

As you may know, at the AGM in January 2010 Jock Patterson was voted onto the committee of BSUPA, which is fantastic news for the sport, as anyone who has met or been coached by Jock will know.

Sadly Richard Marsh (Events Director) has resigned.  We are very sorry to lose Rich who has put countless hours into organising events in 2008-09.  So thank you very much Rich for all your work, it is very much appreciated.

BSUPA Events 2010

We were hoping to have more event dates nailed down by now, but here is the list so far - more will follow as soon as we have heard from organisers confirming arrangements :

West Wittering - 2XS - 15th & 16th May 2010 Surf Counting in BSUPA series
Brighton - July 4th Paddle Round the Pier - Distance Race - Counting in BSUPA Distance series
Poole - Animal Windfest - 10th & 11th September - Distance Race - Counting in BSUPA series
Watergate Bay, Cornwall - 16th 17th October - Final event - combining surf and the last distance race in the series.

In 2010, as discussed and agreed at the AGM with members in January we will be running a distance series and a surf series.  You can expect three to four events in each category.  We have made Paddle Round the Pier and the Animal Windfest part of the distance series for 2010, if this proves a success we will hopefully continue and develop this over the coming years.  The distance series will have two board type categories, one limited by there being no boards over 12ft 6" and the other having no length limit.  We will be running Men's, Womens and Juniors categories.

Full details will be revealed asap !
