Becoming a BSUPA School
To become a BSUPA accredited school, you will need to comply with the following voluntary code of conduct:
BSUPA voluntary CODE OF PRACTICE
During 2010 BSUPA recommends that all teaching provision/ schools/ instructors follow the guidelines below to deliver best practice for stand up paddle boarding tuition.
- Be a qualified BSUPA Instructor
- Carry the correct personal instructor equipment when undertaking activity sessions.
- Waterproof communications
- Suitable first aid kit
- Std Sailors flick knife
- Spares & Tools (leashes etc)
- Emergency procedures information
- Have the correct equipment provision both hard and soft ware for all students (including personal floation devices/Buoyancy Aids).
- Have a functioning safety management system
- Commercial Insurance cover
- Risk Assessments
- SOP, EAP
- Accident Reporting procedures
- Daily records and maintenance recording
- Have a suitable and operational motorized rescue craft
- Have suitable insurance cover.

If you are intending to teach under-18s, you must also be an AALS licensee.
